Addressing the leaders of the UK’s major political parties

Dear leaders of the Conservative, Labour, Liberal Democrats, Green, Scottish National and Reform UK parties,

As we approach the upcoming election, it is crucial to reassess and strengthen your foreign policy towards the Islamic Republic in Iran, particularly in light of recent developments and ongoing challenges.

The compelling low turnout in the latest presidential elections in the Islamic Republic in Iran underscores significant discontent among the Iranian populace, signalling a profound lack of legitimacy for the current theocratic and despotic ruling regime. Additionally, both the United States and Canadian governments have proscribed the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist entity due to its involvement in regional destabilisation and support for terrorist activities.

Given these factors, your party must adopt a clear, principled stance that addresses Iran's internal situation and broader geopolitical dynamics should you win the upcoming General Elections.

It is also known that the Iranian diaspora residing in the UK can affect the number of votes your party gains.

The Iran Constitutional Monarchy Forum in London (ICMF) would like to learn about your party's principal policy and approach toward the Islamic Republic in Iran should it win the election and, hence, would like to pose its questions on the following topics:

1-         Support for Human Rights and Democratic Movements:

    • Will your government advocate for the rights of Iranian citizens, support grassroots movements, and support the political activities of HRH Prince Reza Pahlavi to establish a secular and democratic Iran?
    • Will your Government Increase diplomatic pressure on the Islamic Republic in Iran to respect the fundamental rights of its people, including freedom of expression, assembly, and the press for such rights?
    •

2-         Condemnation and Sanctions:

    • Will your government condemn the IRGC's activities and proscribe the IRGC and all its affiliated groups and organisations as terrorist entities?
    • Will your government align its policies with international efforts to curtail IRGC’s influence? This includes maintaining and potentially expanding targeted sanctions against IRGC leaders and affiliated entities.
    • Will your government collaborate with international partners to ensure sanctions are effectively enforced and do not disproportionately impact the general Iranian populace?

3-         Diplomatic Engagement and Multilateral Cooperation:

    • Will your government engage with allies and international organisations to present a unified front in addressing the Islamic Rulers’ nuclear ambitions and regional policies?
    •

4-         Promotion of Regional Stability:

    • Will your government work with regional partners to mitigate the destabilising effects of the Islamic Republic’s policies in the Middle East, including its support for proxy groups and involvement in conflicts in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and beyond?
    •

5-         Enhanced Security Measures:

    • Will your government strengthen its national security by enhancing intelligence cooperation with allies to monitor and counteract the activities of the IRGC and other Islamic Rulers-linked terrorist organisations?
    • Will your government ensure that its immigration policies include robust vetting processes to prevent individuals affiliated with terrorist organisations from entering the United Kingdom?
    •

By adopting these measures, we can contribute to a more stable and just international order while supporting the Iranian people's aspirations for freedom and democracy. Your foreign policy must reflect the UK’s values and strategic interests, promoting peace, security, and human rights.

Sincerely,

Iran Constitutional Monarchy Forum in London
